GaliLEA’s Priorities
Galilea Martinez is experienced, effective, and ready on day one.
Galilea’s work has always been centered on equity and justice. Ensuring a level playing field for all, especially creating moments of opportunity in civic for Latinos. She hopes to continue this work as a board member for OKCPS. Having grown up in the district she understands first hand the realities students and parents face in choosing the best education. She understands the complexities and realities of being a student within these zip codes. More so, so she knows there are teachers, administrators, and parents fighting everyday to give their students the best possible future. As a board member she’ll be a sounding board for the district. Advocating for their needs and leveling the playing field to ensure equity is found in every classroom and beyond.
Galilea is the right choice for District 7.
She’s ready. But she can’t run this race without our help.

Galilea will build partnerships and coalitions to promote:
Student life skills
Every student should graduate with real options, whether that path is college, career training, or the workforce. Galilea will build on partnerships like MetroTech and strengthen college-prep opportunities so students can choose a track that fits their goals. She will push for strong, individualized support for English learners, so language is never a barrier to success.
She will also support financial literacy and civics so students leave school able to manage money, understand how government works, and participate with confidence in their community.
Hiring, supporting & retaining great teachers
Keeping great teachers starts with treating them like valued professionals and making their jobs doable. Galilea will support cross-district partnerships between teachers and administrators so schools aren’t working in silos and best practices can spread faster. She will advocate for stronger mental health support for educators, because burnout is real and it affects classrooms. And she will be a steady voice for what teachers need, from planning time to basic resources, because supporting teachers is one of the most direct ways to improve student outcomes.
Family engagement
Families should feel informed, welcomed, and listened to, no matter what language they speak or what their schedule looks like. Galilea will push for clear, frequent communication across languages, with school updates that are easy to understand and easy to access. She will work to build a parent advisory board so caregivers have a real seat at the table, not just a comment period at meetings. She will also encourage strong PTAs and create more ways for schools to meet parents where they are, including community spaces, neighborhood events, and flexible meeting times.
Building a culture of pride in public schools
Public schools get stronger when the community believes in them and shows up for them. Galilea will work to demystify the OKCPS Board by explaining how decisions get made, how families can participate, and how to track progress in plain language. She will promote school successes across the district and spotlight the people behind them, including students, teachers, staff, and alumni. She will also support cross-district events that bring neighborhoods together and create visible pride, like school beautification days, park cleanups, and community celebrations that make families feel connected to their schools.
On the OKCPS Board, she will:
Ensure safe, welcoming schools.
Every student should feel safe, respected, and ready to learn the moment they walk on campus. Galilea will push for strong, common-sense safety practices, including clear plans, well-trained staff, and attention to bullying and harassment. Safety also means student well-being, with better access to counseling and supports that keep kids steady and focused. When students feel protected and cared for, learning improves.
Build partnerships that bring resources to schools.
Galilea has spent her career building partnerships across local and national groups to get results, and she’ll bring that same approach to OKCPS. She will work to connect schools with community organizations, nonprofits, and local leaders to expand tutoring, mentoring, after-school programs, and student supports. She’ll focus on partnerships that remove barriers for students, like access to mental health services, enrichment, and basic needs. The goal is simple: more help in the places where students already are.
Emphasize academic growth beyond test scores.
OKCPS should invest in students’ dreams, not just their test results. Galilea will focus on strong fundamentals like reading and math, plus tutoring and catch-up help for students who need it. She’ll support pathways that fit different goals, including college prep, career training, and real-world skills. Families deserve clear, honest updates on what’s working and what needs to change.
Foster trust through board transparency.
People deserve to understand what the school board is doing and why, and they deserve leaders who follow through. Galilea will be a board accountability partner for clear decision-making, plain-language updates, and a board culture that takes responsibility for outcomes. She will ask tough questions, track progress, and expect honest reporting on what’s working and what isn’t. When the board is open and accountable, trust goes up and schools get better support.
